This sewing machine is incredibly user-friendly and has a straightforward setup. It’s a great value for the price. As someone who has primarily sewn by hand, I initially thought I wouldn’t need many features, but having both front and back stitching has been very beneficial. The only issue I’ve encountered so far is that the thread tends to break frequently, and because the threading goes from front to back, using a needle threader can be a bit challenging for me (my eyesight isn’t what it used to be). I appreciate that the light automatically turns on when I start using the machine. I also purchased a case for it; it’s lightweight and easy to transport, plus it operates quietly. Overall, I really like this machine!

I received this last night and set it up in under five minutes this morning. I successfully hemmed a pair of linen pants beautifully! The tension and stitching were perfect. However, when I tried to take in a lightweight knit shirt along the side seams, everything went wrong. The thread got gummed up and turned into a mess. Adjusting the tension didn’t help, and when I attempted to reload the bobbin, I noticed that the bobbin casing wasn’t turning, which meant it wasn’t feeding correctly. It’s such a disappointment because I was excited about using it for little fixes. I will be returning it.

This is an excellent home aid, made of good material, and it’s easy to thread and use. It sews thin fabrics, slightly thicker ones, and lightweight denim well. The pedal is small but works effectively. The only downside is that it doesn’t have an off button; you just need to unplug it. It does make a bit of noise, but it has enough functions to create any garment.

Now, I’m faced with the prospect of paying nearly half the machine’s cost to ship it for potential repairs.
Setting it up was time-consuming and not straightforward, which I expected from a sewing machine. The instruction manual was lacking in detail, forcing me to rely on YouTube for guidance. I finally got it operational, but it only worked for a short period. I managed to hem the bottoms of two curtains, but when I attempted the third, the machine increasingly slowed down, barely completing any stitching. This occurred even when sewing through just two layers of lightweight fabric. I also tried winding a new bobbin, but the machine continued to struggle.
When I contacted support, the representative suggested that I might have overused the machine, calling it a “mending” machine. I felt like they were preparing to dismiss my situation, despite my usage being in line with the product’s advertised capabilities. They didn’t provide any troubleshooting assistance or methods to diagnose the issue. I was informed of three warranty repair locations in my state, but all are over six hours away and only accept walk-ins. The representative seemed eager to end the call without offering any real help. I found a location that accepts shipments, but they’re located multiple states away, and I would have to cover the shipping costs. There’s no guarantee they’ll repair or replace it, leaving me uncertain about whether to invest more money.
In retrospect, I noticed similar machines for about $30 that would have sufficed for my needs. I opted for the $80 model, thinking it would be a reliable long-term investment. Now, I wish I had purchased several of the cheaper options instead. I’m stuck with an unfinished project and a frustrating customer service experience ahead of me.
Update: I contacted the warranty repair location that accepts shipments. They informed me they do not service these machines, labeling them as “toys” with fragile plastic components. This was a third-party business, not an official Singer facility, so while I was frustrated, I understood. The support system has failed me repeatedly, suggesting locations I can’t reach and one that won’t even work on this model.
